Modern Family - Sundays, 8pm
Today’s American families come in all shapes and sizes. The cookie cutter mould of man, wife, and 2.5 kids is a thing of the past, as becomes quickly apparent in 3’s hilarious new comedy Modern Family - Sundays, 8pm on 3.
Described as "a look at the complications that come with being a family in today's times,” Modern Family boasts an ensemble that includes Ed O'Neill (Married with Children), Sofia Vergara (Knights of Prosperity), Julie Bowen (Boston Legal) and Jesse Tyler Ferguson (The Class).
Modern Family stars Ed O'Neill, Julie Bowen, and their cast mates recently spoke to Entertainment Tonight, revealing some of the laughs and surprises in store for viewers.
“I’m very excited about the show, and I love the fact that it’s an ensemble, and that it’s Chris and Steve [Executive Producers Christopher Lloyd and Steven Levitan], whose work I have admired over the years,” says O'Neill, who famously played Al Bundy on Married with Children.
“So I’m happy. I’m very happy about it, you know? I think it’s going to be a really fun experience…and, hopefully, a long-lasting one!”
When faced with the question of what separates Modern Family from other family comedy series, Julie Bowen says that this family is like nothing ever seen on television before.
“It’s a modern family because we accept and embrace that tension is a part of everyday life and we don’t act like it’s a big drama that has to be solved," she explains, adding; "If you have a family, you're going to see something that you will relate to."
O'Neill agrees, saying; “The comedy is very smart, in that it’s not a lot of jokes – it’s more situational, which I really like because you can play it more realistically.”
"The whole cast is hilarious," he adds, "I'm enjoying just watching them."
