WHEN it comes to Extraordinary Kiwis, radio DJ Jay-Jay Feeney isn't sure she fits the bill. Jay-Jay will feature in the Prime TV series Extraordinary Kiwis which follows a day in the life of New Zealanders with interesting jobs.
With Kiwis like racing driver Scott Dixon and rugby legend Colin Meads also featured, Jay-Jay is in good company.
"They are talking me up a little bit too much I think!" The Edge Morning Madhouse breakfast DJ told Sunday News. "It's a bit flattering,"
But with a job that includes meeting international celebrities, starting each day at 4am and raising money for sick kids, Jay-Jay does have an extraordinary life.
The camera crew met Jay-Jay and her DJ husband Dom Harvey at 4.45am, grabbing a coffee on the way to work.
"They followed me all day," Jay-Jay says. "Obviously I had to make sure my day was full. Some days we do our show and maybe have an interview, then work from home and that would be pretty boring.
'We made sure we had an action-packed day.
'We started with a wake-up call for our boss - we hired a bagpiper and went outside his house to wake him up!
"We went ice skating and pole dancing!"
If Jay-Jay were to nominate her own extraordinary Kiwis to learn about their lives, she would choose talent agent Sara Tetro and All Black Byron Kelleher.
"I'd love to see a day in the life of a talent agent," Jay-Jay says.
"And Byron Kelleher - he is hysterical. And he is in charge of entertainment for the All Blacks. Imagine watching him party-plan."
Though she has appeared on TV previously on Celebrity Treasure Island: Couples At War, a C4 chart show and most recently Charlotte's Lists, Jay-Jay is far more comfortable behind the radio microphone.
"I'm not really good at it," Jay-Jay says of TV. "It's funny - I'm on the radio in a high-profile job but I feel really quite shy off air.
"It's a bit weird. Radio's definitely my thing."
While her job has its downside - early starts being a killer - Jay-Jay wouldn't swap it.
'We have so much freedom and can say and do whatever we want. "In so many jobs you watch the clock.
'We get to meet so many incredible people, like superstars. I just met Pink for the fourth time.
"You tell people you are meeting Pink and they go, 'Oh my God!' (screams) and you remember it's quite a big deal. It's a really amazing job.
"I wouldn't want to do anything else.
