Who am I?

I'm Jay-Jay Feeney and I host a radio breakfast show on a top 40 radio station in New Zealand called THE EDGE. My co-hosts are Mike Puru and Dominic Harvey. The show is called The Morning Madhouse and airs weekdays from 6 till 10am. The Edge is NZ's largest music station with over 400 000 listeners. We broadcast to nearly every major city in the country via FM frequencies.

FAVE FOOD
RICE! Teriyaki chicken on rice, Potatoes, cheese, bananas, fresh white bread, potato fritters...oh I'm sooooooo hungry!

FOOD I HATE
Mushrooms, mince, steak, sausages, chops, lamb, any red meat, weetbix, marmite, pumpkin, brussel sprouts, kumara, asparagus, shellfish, cream, ...I'm very fussy!

HOW I GOT THE COOLEST JOB IN THE WORLD
I started in radio when I was in the 6th form at New Plymouth Girls High. I got six weeks work experience at Energy FM (now More FM) and after that I hung around like a bad smell and a desperate groupie for awhile.

Eventually they gave in and gave me easy jobs to do (like faxing, licking stamps, handing out bumper stickers and cooking sausages at promotions). One job led to another and another until they were desperate enough to put me on the radio in the middle of the night when no one could hear me! I got a full time job doing nights (7pm-midnight) when I was 17. When I was 20 I moved to Hamilton to do Drive (2pm-7pm) on The Breeze and four months later the bosses at Energy FM started THE EDGE and they poached me. I began on Drive and was promoted to breakfast soon after.

I now host the Morning Madhouse with Mike Puru and Dominic Harvey. The Edge started as a small station in Hamilton and now broadcasts to more than 20 markets around New Zealand. It's been so exciting to be part of it as it has grown.

HOW U CAN GET INTO RADIO
If you're keen on radio I would suggest you apply to do the Bachelor of Broadcasting Communications at the NZ Broadcasting School in Christchurch (www.cpit.ac.nz) if you can't get any training locally. I believe the Christchurch course is THE BEST course in NZ.

There are other great courses in Wellington and Auckland now too though. Bachelor of Communication Studies at Auckland University of Technology (www.aut.ac.nz) and Diploma of Commercial Broadcasting/National Diploma of Radio Journalism at the NZ Radio Training School, Wellington (www.broadcasting.co.nz)

MY FAMILY

I am the oldest in my family. I have three sisters and two brothers.
My siblings are Michelle, Mike, Jamie, Jessie and Poull.

INTERESTS
I am fascinated by astrology & fortune telling. I love books on all these subjects. I have been spending alot of time on the net too which is fun but time consuming! I love watching movies, shopping, travelling, dancing, the internet, eating out and sleeping! I like all kinds of music from Kings of Leon, Pink, George Micheal (I LOVE him!), Madonna, Kanye west, Lady Gaga etc. I don't listen to much music outside of work because I like silence when I am alone at home. On Friday and Saturday nights I pump up the stereo really loud to get me in the mood to PARTY!

MY HANDWRITING ANALYSIS
Malcolm McLeod is a Handwriting Analyst from Australia. He can tell the sort
of person you are by your handwriting! Check out his website here
Here's what Malcolm said about my handwriting...

Head rules the heart.
Cautious about revealing your real self to people until you feel comfortable with them. A perfectionist in things that matter to you. You like to play to win, and if you can’t win, you prefer not to play at all.
A great communicator, you like to express yourself clearly so that all of us ignorants can understand your brilliance.
You are keen to get away from the past but not 100% sure on the future.
You over clutter your life with too many options, which may dilute your potency on the areas that really matter.
You need to de-clutter your life of the excessive relationships, clothes and attitudes that are denying your best from being realized. You present yourself as warm, caring and outgoing, but you really don’t give a poo. Can be a bossy bitch who needs to have the final say in things. Slow to open yourself to close intimacy as you have mellowing resentment towards a past relationship &/or situation. Current partner could try harder, as you have not reached your fullest passionate potential.

If there's anything else you'd like to know about me, please feel free to email with your questions and I will endeavour to answer them.
